Denbury Resources announces executive appointments

Denbury Resources Inc., an E&P focused on EOR utilizing CO2 in the Gulf Coast and Rocky Mountain regions, has announced the appointment of Brad Kerr as senior V.P. of planning, technology, CO2 supply and pipelines. In his role, Kerr will oversee Denbury' s long-range development plan, CO2 supply and pipeline operations.

Kerr is assuming the role formerly held by Charlie Gibson, who has been appointed to the newly created position of senior V.P. of production operations. In his new role, Gibson will oversee all of Denbury' s hydrocarbon producing assets, with a focus on implementing various operational improvement initiatives and best practices across the company' s operating regions.

Kerr has 31 years of oil and gas industry experience, serving in various roles at Shell and at Exxon Mobil. His responsibilities included providing operational and technical leadership, new technology implementation, and reservoir engineering for diverse oil and gas exploration and development projects, including EOR and unconventional drilling projects in Alaska, West Texas, the Rockies, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Circle Oil starts drilling SAH-W1 well in Sebou permit, Morocco

Circle Oil, reported the preliminary results of drilling of the well SAH-W1 in the Sebou Permit, onshore Morocco.

The well is located within the western central area of the Sebou Permit, about 3.2 km to the south west of the main gas gathering station. The well was spud on 19 May and drilled to a TD of 1,263 m MD. Gas shows were encountered at three levels within the target Guebbas sands, but seven inch casing had to be installed (due to mechanical problems) before drilling a six inch hole through the main target interval. The wireline logging confirmed the presence of three gas-bearing zones, and subsequent pressure testing in the six inch hole confirmed permeable high pressure reservoirs.

The rig has been released from this site before running the 4.5 inch liner as this is a non-standard size for drilling these wells and this is being sourced to test and complete the well for production in the future. The net pay from wireline log analysis is 6 m in the Top Guebbas, 6 m in the main target Intra Guebbas and 3 m in the lower part of the Intra Guebbas. The plan is to produce the three zones sequentially from the bottom up, where the highest pressure is present.

Sercel lands another order for 508XT system

CGG has announced that, in addition to the first two 508XT systems being delivered to the industry this month, Sercel has also sold a system to PanAmerican Geophysical for delivery in July.

The system' s X-Tech architecture allows it to combine the benefits of both cable and cable-free systems in a single platform.

Dave Pratt, Chairman, PanAmerican, said: “We are excited to be the first to deploy the 508XT in North America, having chosen the system based on its unique features which will allow us to achieve the highest levels of production while greatly reducing the number of batteries that need to be deployed and maintained.”

Chesapeake completes spin-off of oilfield services business

Chesapeake Energy Corporation has completed the spin-off of its oilfield services business, previously conducted through Chesapeake Oilfield Operating, L.L.C., into a stand-alone, publicly traded company called Seventy Seven Energy Inc. (SSE)

SSE provides a range of wellsite services and equipment to U.S. land-based exploration and production customers operating in unconventional resource plays. Its services include drilling, hydraulic fracturing, oilfield rentals, rig relocation and water transport and disposal, and its operations are geographically diversified across many of the most active oil and natural gas plays in the onshore U.S.
